September 2017 Luncheon

Keeping Yourself and Your Employer Out of Hot Water

When working in the public sector, being aware of ethical and legal issues can mean the difference between managing a small problem and a public relations nightmare.  This presentation will highlight key ethical and legal issues that can save you from a career ending mistake.  Discussion will include not only following the letter of the law but avoiding the appearance of impropriety.

The speaker:

Nathan Nickolaus is a principal with the law firm of Cunningham, Vogel and Rost which concentrates on representing cities.  He is the former city attorney for Jefferson City as well as the former City Administrator there.  Most recently he served as General Counsel for the Missouri Department of Economic Development. He has a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri and a Masters of Public Administration from Indiana State University.  He is a recipient of the Lou Czech Award presented by the Missouri Municipal Attorneys Association. He is the author of The Sunshine Law (2nd edition), the most complete handbook on Missouri’s sunshine law available.
